Headlocked : The Tryout - Issue 1

Last year we told you about the new comic book series Headlocked that was hands down the best wrestling themed comic book I had ever seen (More on that can be read here > http://maineventradio.netfirms.com/SteveColumns/Reviews/headlock.htm  ) With it having been a major success, the series has launched a mini series and issue 1 is now available in a comic book store near you. WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler lends his artistic skills having painted the cover for this issue, during which the lead character Michael Hartmann Is telling his story through his diary entries. Since the first installment, he has been  trained and is ready to try out for the biggest wrestling company around, the WFW!  This issue is another beautiful piece of art, a must read for any wrestling fan, and I encourage you to pick up a copy and follow the adventures, you wont regret it. Check out www.visionarycomics.com, and www.markosia.com for more details.

CATFIGHT WRESTLING

Reviewing all of the latest wrestling related DVD releases often gives me the chance to see some really cool stuff, At times it also provides for some wacky stuff, and Cat Fight Wrestling, recently released on DVD by BVD Entertainment falls under than wacky category. Hosted by XPW’s Kris Kloss, Cat Fight Wrestling is a 8 woman tournament held in a wrestling ring setup in the back of some warehouse. It’s hyped as real people fighting for real money, but the wrestling is in many ways the least important thing going on in this tournament, as the product obviously aims to appeal to the red blooded males who love a good catfight between two ladies who eventually end up nude. Some of the girls are decent looking, others are downright scary, Kris Kloss masters the sexual innuendo type of announcing, and then gets rejected time after time as he asks for the participants phone numbers after their matchups. Off the top of the DVD Kloss tries to give a strict warning to those underage individuals trying to watch this that they will be caught and prosecuted, a downright hilariously bad promo setting the tone for a cheesy dvd, which can be recommended to those looking for a good catfight but nothing more. You can order a copy off of amazon via http://www.amazon.com/Catfight-Wrestling/dp/B001BTODZM/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1227086403&sr=8-1 for about 14.99$
